Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman of business. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. Buss, a Californian native has an impressive family background. Jerry Buss is her father. He was an estate tycoon, and later the proprietor of Lakers and other enterprises. Her parents parted ways in 1972, which caused her to feel emotionally abandoned. At 19 years old, she began working for the family's business as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Later she created the Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She served as the head of the Great Western Forum before assuming the duties of the vice-president of the Lakers. Buss, her five siblings and brothers as well as their father who owned the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder until the time of his death in 2013, took over this ownership through a trust. The five siblings had the same voting rights. She assumed her duties as the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also owns Women of Wrestling, a professional promotion of wrestling with its headquarter in Los Angeles.
